About the Role
Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) is hiring an Assistant Manager Database Administration on contract under its Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Project to manage smart metering databases and high-volume billing systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, and maintain high-availability Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases for GEPCO AMI smart metering
- Ensure 24/7 database uptime, transaction performance, automated replication, and disaster recovery backup protocols
- Monitor big data ingestion from smart electricity meters, perform query optimization, and optimize database indexing
- Implement rigorous database security, user privileges, data encryption, and audit logs according to Power Division standards
- Collaborate with AMI software architects and billing system teams on database schema designs and data migrations
Qualifications & Skills
Basic Requirements
- Four-year Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Software Engineering from an HEC-recognized university
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of professional experience in enterprise database administration (Oracle / MS SQL Server)
- Demonstrated proficiency in database clustering, backup recovery, SQL tuning, and database monitoring
- Strong understanding of database security, high-availability architectures, and large-scale data ingestion
- Age Limit: Up to 33 years (with general government age relaxation applicable)
Preferred Qualifications
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) certification
