Assistant Programmer (Database Administration & Development)
About the Role
CECOS University of IT and Emerging Sciences is hiring an Assistant Programmer (Database) within its central IT Department at Phase 6 Hayatabad, Peshawar. The programmer will develop and maintain university database schemas, stored procedures, campus ERP modules, and student information systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize relational database schemas, tables, and views for university campus management systems.
- Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions to support academic administration and fee billing.
- Perform database backup routines, index maintenance, query tuning, and performance profiling to ensure zero downtime.
- Assist senior software engineers in integrating web portals and student mobile applications with backend databases.
- Generate custom academic reports, examination statistical datasets, and MIS dashboards for faculty and registrar offices.
Qualifications & Skills
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology from an HEC-recognized university.
- 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in database development and administration (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MS SQL Server).
- Strong practical proficiency in SQL programming, database normalization, and query optimization techniques.
- Basic understanding of backend web development languages (PHP, Python, or C#/.NET).
- Good analytical problem-solving skills, attention to data security, and disciplined documentation habits.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience developing or supporting University Management Systems (CMS / LMS).
- Certifications in database administration (Oracle OCA / Microsoft Certified Database Administrator).
