About the Role
The Criminal Prosecution Services Department, Government of Sindh invites applications for the office of the Prosecutor General Sindh, High Court of Sindh, Karachi. The prosecutor conducts criminal state litigation, bail hearings, case scrutiny, and trial prosecution.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the State in criminal cases, trial proceedings, bail matters, and appellate hearings before Magistrates and Sessions Courts.
- Scrutinize police investigation files (challans under Section 173 CrPC), ensuring evidence sufficiency before court submission.
- Examine prosecution witnesses, introduce forensic and documentary evidence, and conduct effective cross-examinations.
- Prepare legal briefs, written arguments, and state response pleas in constitutional petitions and revision cases.
- Advise police investigating officers regarding evidentiary requirements and legal procedures during criminal inquiries.
- Maintain meticulous court diary records, progress logs, and trial outcome reports for the Prosecutor General's office.
Qualifications & Skills
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from an HEC-recognized university.
- Active enrollment and practicing license as an Advocate with the Sindh Bar Council.
- 2+ years of active criminal law court practice before subordinate or superior courts in Sindh.
- Thorough mastery of Code of Criminal Procedure 1898, Pakistan Penal Code 1860, and Qanun-e-Shahadat Order 1984.
- Sindh Domicile / PRC (Rural/Urban quota applicable) and age between 18 and 30 years (plus government relaxations).
Preferred Qualifications
- LL.M. degree in Criminal Justice or Human Rights Law.
- Demonstrated experience in high-profile criminal litigation or trial advocacy.
