CTO Guarantees Officer - Centralized Trade Operations
About the Role
Soneri Bank Limited is hiring a CTO Guarantees Officer (OG-I) in its Centralized Trade Operations Department in Karachi. The role manages the issuance, legal vetting, and processing of domestic and international bank guarantees in accordance with SBP regulations and international standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and issue various bank guarantees including Bid Bonds, Performance Guarantees, Advance Payment Guarantees, and Financial Guarantees.
- Conduct thorough legal vetting and technical verification of guarantee texts in accordance with the Stamp Duty Act and client contracts.
- Ensure strict compliance with State Bank of Pakistan Foreign Exchange (FE) Regulations, URDG 758, ISP98, and AML/TBML policies.
- Process guarantee amendments, cancellations, claim settlements, and commission calculations in the core banking system.
- Liaise with corporate relationship managers, correspondent banks, and legal counsel to resolve complex trade queries.
- Maintain complete guarantee registers, custody of securities, and audit-compliant records.
Qualifications & Skills
Basic Requirements
- Minimum Graduation (B.Com/BBA/BS) or Master's in Banking, Finance, or Commerce from an HEC-recognized university.
- 3–5 years of specialized experience in bank guarantees and trade operations (Officer Grade OG-I).
- In-depth working knowledge of SBP FE Regulations, URDG 758, ISP 98, and trade-based money laundering (TBML) rules.
- Hands-on experience with core banking applications (Temenos T24 and Payment Safe).
- Strong analytical skills, high accuracy in documentation, and advanced MS Excel knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications
- International trade certifications such as CDCS or CSDG (Certificate for Specialists in Demand Guarantees).
- JAIBP or other recognized banking professional credentials.
