Department Head - Centralized Account Opening
About the Role
MCB Islamic Bank is seeking an experienced banking leader to head its Centralized Account Opening Department in Lahore. The incumbent will oversee end-to-end customer onboarding, ensure strict compliance with SBP KYC/AML frameworks, and lead team operations with high service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily operations of the Centralized Account Opening Department across individual, corporate, digital, and term deposit accounts.
- Ensure rigorous compliance with State Bank of Pakistan regulations, AML/CFT policies, Customer Onboarding Frameworks, and internal SOPs.
- Implement robust maker-checker controls, monitor authorization workflows, and review documentation accuracy to mitigate operational risks.
- Coordinate closely with branch networks, Compliance, Risk, and IT teams to resolve onboarding bottlenecks and improve turnaround times (TAT).
- Drive system enhancements, user acceptance testing (UAT), digital onboarding initiatives, and robotic process automation across account workflows.
- Prepare operational risk reports, monitor ageing analysis, and present executive metrics to senior management.
Qualifications & Skills
Basic Requirements
- Minimum 16 years of education (Master's/Bachelor's) in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, Commerce, or Economics from an HEC-recognized university.
- 10–15 years of progressive banking experience, with substantial focus on centralized account opening and high-volume operations.
- At least 5–8 years of proven supervisory or department management experience in commercial or Islamic banking.
- Thorough command of SBP Prudential Regulations, KYC/CDD standards, and Islamic banking principles.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, MIS reporting, and core banking systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional banking diplomas/certifications such as JAIBP or AIBP.
- Demonstrated track record leading digital onboarding automation projects.
