About the Role
Ahmed Foods (Pvt) Ltd is seeking an Innovation, Research & Development Officer (IRD) at its corporate manufacturing plant in Karachi. The officer will support formulation trials for traditional recipe mixes, pickles, and jams, validate nutritional labeling, and ensure compliance with Halal, HACCP, and ISO standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist food technologists in developing and refining product formulations for spices, recipe mixes, jams, and preserves.
- Conduct pilot-scale production trials and laboratory testing on sample ingredients from prospective raw material vendors.
- Validate cooking instructions and sensory profiles through kitchen preparation trials and tasting panels.
- Review packaging artworks, ensuring accuracy of nutritional facts tables, allergen warnings, and regulatory declarations.
- Maintain structured IRD laboratory files, batch formulation sheets, and assist in maintaining Halal and HACCP certifications.
Qualifications & Skills
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science & Technology, Food Engineering, or Applied Chemistry from a recognized university.
- Minimum 6 months to 2 years of practical experience in the FMCG or food processing industry.
- Foundational understanding of GMP, HACCP, PSQCA, and Halal food certification standards.
- Strong attention to detail, laboratory documentation discipline, and sensory evaluation skills.
- Effective team coordination and interpersonal communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior formulation experience in traditional culinary spices, sauces, or confectionery products.
- Familiarity with export food labeling regulations for international retail markets.
