About the Role
Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) invites applications for 32 permanent positions of Medical Officer (BPS-17) in the Home Department, Government of Sindh, to provide healthcare services in correctional institutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient medical examinations, clinical diagnosis, and primary emergency treatment to jail inmates and departmental staff
- Supervise prison hospital wards, monitor medication dispensing, and enforce medical hygiene protocols
- Refer serious medical and surgical cases to tertiary government hospital medical boards
- Conduct medical screenings of newly admitted prisoners and maintain detailed statutory health registers
- Assist legal and administrative authorities in medico-legal documentation and health surveillance reports
Qualifications & Skills
Basic Requirements
- MBBS degree from a university recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC)
- Valid registration with the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC)
- Completion of one (01) year mandatory House Job from a recognized teaching hospital
- Age Limit: 21 to 28 years (with general age relaxation as per Government of Sindh rules)
- Sindh rural or urban domicile required
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate training in Public Health, Internal Medicine, or clinical emergency care
