About the Role
The National Center for Nanoscience & Nanotechnology (NCNN) invites applications for Research Associates (PPS-7) at the Nano Physics Lab (NPL), hosted at LUMS in Lahore. The researcher works on cutting-edge nanomaterials synthesis, 2D quantum devices, and characterization.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced experimental research in nanomaterials fabrication, 2D semiconductor synthesis, and thin-film deposition.
- Operate sophisticated characterization equipment including AFM, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Raman spectroscopy, and XRD.
- Fabricate nanoscale electronic and photonic devices using cleanroom lithography, etching, and metal evaporation techniques.
- Analyze experimental electrical and optical transport data, simulating physical behavior using scientific computing tools.
- Draft research manuscripts, scientific publications, and technical progress reports for HEC and Planning Commission reviews.
- Maintain cleanroom protocols, safety equipment, and laboratory consumable inventories.
Qualifications & Skills
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Nanoscience & Nanotechnology, or related field.
- Strong academic record with demonstrated research coursework in solid-state physics, nanoelectronics, or materials engineering.
- Hands-on laboratory experience with experimental characterization instruments (Raman, SEM, or electrical probe stations).
- Proficiency in scientific data analysis tools (Python, MATLAB, OriginLab).
- High intellectual curiosity, teamwork, and scientific report-writing abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Published research articles in peer-reviewed materials physics or nanotechnology journals.
- Cleanroom fabrication and electron-beam lithography experience.
