Senior Officer / Executive – Taxation
About the Role
Union Steel Industries is looking for a qualified Senior Officer / Executive – Taxation for its industrial office at S.I.T.E., Karachi. The professional manages statutory tax compliance across FBR and SRB, prepares monthly sales tax and withholding statements, conducts tax reconciliations, and supports corporate audit proceedings.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns, withholding tax statements, and annual corporate income tax returns on FBR IRIS.
- Manage Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) sales tax on services compliance, invoice registration, and statutory electronic returns.
- Perform monthly input/output sales tax reconciliations and verify supplier withholding tax deductions and payment challans.
- Maintain well-documented tax archives, CPR challans, exemption certificates, and ledger schedules for tax audits.
- Monitor amendments in federal and provincial tax laws to ensure corporate business operations remain compliant.
Qualifications & Skills
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's in Commerce / Accounting OR part-qualified ACCA / ICMAP.
- 2 to 3 years of hands-on corporate taxation experience in a manufacturing company or reputable audit firm.
- Strong practical command of FBR IRIS portal, SRB e-portal, and relevant withholding tax sections.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data sorting, VLOOKUP, pivot tables) and enterprise ERP systems.
- Disciplined work approach, high numerical integrity, and adherence to tax statutory filing deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) or SAP Financials.
- Taxation experience specifically within the steel manufacturing or heavy industrial sector.
