Engineer - Instrumentation & Control (I&C)
About the Role
Mughal Energy Limited is hiring an Engineer - Instrumentation & Control (I&C) for its 36.5 MW Coal-Fired Power Plant located on Sheikhupura Road, near Lahore. The engineer oversees DCS controls, field instrumentation calibration, PLC troubleshooting, and continuous plant reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and calibration of field instruments (transmitters, thermocouples, RTDs, control valves).
- Manage Distributed Control System (DCS) operations, logic modifications, and alarm management for smooth boiler-turbine operations.
- Troubleshoot PLCs, SCADA systems, interlocks, and emergency trip systems to ensure uninterrupted power generation.
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance, calibration overhauls, and instrumentation loop testing during plant outages.
- Maintain critical I&C spares inventory, calibration test bench instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
- Enforce strict industrial safety protocols, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and HSE guidelines in hazardous power plant zones.
Qualifications & Skills
Basic Requirements
- B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering from a PEC-accredited institution.
- 3–5 years of hands-on I&C experience in a thermal power plant, captive power unit, or heavy industrial process plant.
- Demonstrated experience with SUPCON DCS, Siemens PCS7, or equivalent industrial control systems.
- Solid knowledge of HART protocol, pneumatic actuators, PID loops, and industrial field instrumentation.
- Valid registration with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct coal-fired power plant or high-pressure boiler I&C experience.
- Training in safety instrumented systems (SIS) and functional safety.
