Metallurgy Engineer
About the Role
Mughal Iron & Steel Industries Ltd. is hiring a Metallurgy Engineer based at its manufacturing complex on Lahore–Sheikhupura Road. The candidate will oversee furnace melt operations, metallurgical testing, and ASTM/BS standard compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise melt shop, ladle refining furnace (LRF), and continuous casting operations to meet strict chemical composition tolerances.
- Conduct metallurgical investigations, metallographic examinations, and mechanical tensile/yield testing on rebars and billets.
- Identify casting inclusions, surface cracks, and rolling defects, implementing swift corrective action plans.
- Maintain QA/QC calibration standards and ISO metallurgical lab testing protocols.
- Coordinate with rolling mill engineers to optimize steel microstructures, quenching parameters, and chemical deoxidation.
Qualifications & Skills
Basic Requirements
- B.Sc. in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering from an HEC/PEC recognized university.
- 2 to 3 years of hands-on metallurgical plant experience in steel manufacturing.
- In-depth technical knowledge of electric arc furnace (EAF) / induction furnace steelmaking and international ASTM standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) professional engineer registration.
